He gave the right to become children of God

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13

We are His children indeed. This is a fact, whether you realise it or not, you automatically become a child of God as soon as you give you receive Christ and believe in his name. It’s not something you get when you believe it or something you have to work for.

You are a child of your parents. You don’t become their child only after knowing them, you are their child as soon as you are conceived. You may have been abandoned and not knowing who they are. But you are still theirs. You have their DNA, their physical and psychological traits, you have even inherited some of their behaviours! Sadly, you may also have inherited generational curses.

The same goes with being a child of God. That’s why He is your Father and He treats you as His child. That’s why as a Father, He makes decisions regarding our lives without asking for our opinion. That’s the reason why He blesses us and hears us before we ask. “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

And again, that is the reason why we have His character in us because by becoming His children we inherited His spiritual DNA.

And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. ² Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,^[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”

From now on, know your identity and start living the life you were entitled to.
